DPM Singh satisfied at SAARC Summit infrastructure preparation

Kathmandu, Nov 18 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development Prakash Man Singh today inspected the sites including the Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall), the venue of the forthcoming 18th SAARC Summit, where preparations are in full swing for the regional event.

On the occasion, DPM Singh directed the bodies concerned to complete the remaining preparatory works expeditiously and in a systematic manner so as to maintain the country’s prestige high in the international arena.

Officials mobilized for the phydical construction, beautification and security preparation at the City Hall briefed the Deputy Prime Minister of the work progress.

Talking briefly to the media after the inspection, DPM Singh said the works on preparation that have been carried out in short time should be considered satisfactory. Now the preparation works have reached the final phase and it has been found that the employees concerned have worked day and night to carryout these works.

 To a query that the Public Procurement Act was not complied as the works had to be carried out in a hurry, DPM Singh said the works have been done as per the laws and based on the decision of the Council of Ministers considering the seriousness of the work. He added that the quality of the works has not been compromised upon.

 Also today, DPM Singh observed the Old Bus Park area which has been proposed as an alternative parking site, the Open-Air-Theatre which has been beautified, the Ratna Park and Rani Pokhari area.
