Koirala stunned by the demise of Mandela

Kathmandu, Dec.  6:  Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has said he was stunned by the news of the demise of Nelson Mandela, the first black president of South Africa and an anti-apartheid leader, at the age of 95, this morning.

President Koirala in a condolence issued here today, wished for eternal peace to the departed soul while expressing condolences to the bereaved family and people and government of South Africa at this hour of grief in the demise of Mandela who devoted his life for giving opportunity to all the people to exercise equal rights by ending apartheid in South Africa.

Mandela’s sacrifice, devotion and selfless spirit has entered South Africa into a modern age of democracy and   that he was a great leader of our age who worked with people and the nation in paramount place, he said, while expressing confidence that the same ideal will always direct the world politics in the days ahead.
