Kathmandu, Nov. 30: The UCPN (Maoist) has said that it would not join a new Constituent Assembly (CA) under any circumstances until an investigation is carried out into the ‘procedural, policy, structural and organizational rigging’ took place in course of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

During a regular press meet at the party central office Parisdanda today, party Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota called for forming a high-level independent investigation commission to look into all the methods adopted for defeating the pro-change forces technically.

“The party will participate in the CA on the basis of a report of a high-level commission (if formed), otherwise it has no alternative except to going to the people,” he added.

Pressure from the Election Commission for counting votes from the unsealed ballot boxes, taking a long time for the transportation of ballot boxes to easily accessible counting stations, transportation of ballot boxes without the participation of political party representatives, and difference in records of poll-related documents proved that rigging took place in the election, Sapkota said, adding that if the party would not join the CA, it would not participate in the new government also. There is no meaning of dissemination about the government formation as made by the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) leaders.

The UCPN (M) Spokesperson further claimed that arguments for the continuation of incumbent president and vice president in a new situation are inappropriate. He argued for electing a new face for the post of president in the new context.

“The party will go ahead together with the people to institutionalise their wishes for changes. Although the party faced a forceful defeat in the election, it has emerged as the largest party in the eye of the people,” he said. RSS
