Artists express solidarity against VAW

Kathmandu, Nov. 28: Renowned artists have expressed their solidarity against the violence against women (VAW) through their paintings.

At a programme organized by the Nepal Fine Arts Academy and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the capital on Thursday, the artists have displayed their paintings in different canvasses to express their solidarity against VAW.

Chancellor of the Academy Kiran Manandhar, Member Secretary K K Karmacharya, academicians of the Academy Rabin Koirala, Shanta Kumar Rai, Karna Prasad Maskey, Sushma Rajbhandari and senior artists Jiban Rajopadhya, Shyamlal Shrestha, Thinley Dolma Gurung, Sangita Jyapu, Arina Chitrakar, Samjhana Rajbhandari and Bidhata KC among others created their paintings on the occasion.

The drawings mostly represent the happiness and sorrow of the women and their urges for peace.

On the occasion, Chancellor Manandhar said that the programme was organized to deliver a positive message in the society through the paintings to reduce the incidents of violence against women. RSS
