Kathmandu, Nov. 23: Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been suggested to gracefully accept the people’s mandate.

The civil society representatives said they had taken the public response of Chairman Dahal to election results as an impulsive view.

They further suggested the UCPN-Maoist Chairman to make the reaction only after the complete results of election and console cadres accordingly.

Former Chief Election Commissioner, Surya Prasad Shrestha, said people’s judgment was final so it would be wise to accept the election results by the UCPN-Maoist. As the election is the beauty of democracy, Chairman Dahal can’t ignore it, he added.

Similarly, he said the victory and defeat are normal in the multiparty system and competitive politics. So, it was time to move ahead by forging consensus.

According to him, the review of election as demanded by the Maoist party was impossible, he commented.

Professor Dr Syam Kant Silwal said UCPN-Maoist Chairman Dahal who is established as a national leader in short time needs to maintain restraint and accept the election result wholeheartedly.

He said, “It was not good for him to give response to election so early.”

Similarly, associate professor Bhuwan Dhungana said although some incidents of election code violation were reported, the CA election was free and fair in general. So, the Maoist Chairman Dahal had no option but to accept the election results.

He also suggested the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML not to be very ecstatic over the election result but work for the people. RSS
