Bear rampage panics farmers

Solukhumbu, Oct. 9: Bear rampage has now panicked farmers of upper area in the district. Local farmers are worrying much when the wild beast start eating up about-to-harvest grains and fruits.

‘We cultivate different crops spending whole nights in the farmland but the beast finishes them off in no time’, said Lyakpa Sherpa, a farmer of Garma.

The bear has caused a huge losses in the maize and fruit farming in various areas including Garma, Tamakhani, Taksindu and Juving.

‘Last year too the wild beast ruins all maize farming here in a night. This time we have managed to protect our farming to this date. We need to be more cautious for a week to get it away from bear rampage’, said Jorman Rai, a farmer of Juving.

It is learnt that farmers these days are staying in sheds constructed in the maize farmland to do the wild beast away from ready-to-harvest crops. RSS
