Kathmandu, Dec. 29: Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, has directed the concerned bodies to hasten the ongoing road expansion in the capital city.

At a review meeting of a high level monitoring committee on road widening campaign held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister on Sunday, Chairman Regmi said although the road expansion drive was delayed for some time due to Constituent Assembly election, it must not be delayed anymore now.

He urged the participants at the meeting to win the hearts of the concerned people and the sectors and expedite the expansion. Chairman Regmi was concerned over slow expansion, saying, the demolition of the structures along the road has affected people’s health for it was not reconstructed immediately.

According to Coordinator of the monitoring committee, Krishna Hari Baskota, Chairman Regmi directed the concerned to immediately reconstruct the road and manage demolished structures as the road expansion was taking a long time and it would not give a good message.

He has also focused on making the compensation criteria transparent. The employees, contractors and construction companies need to be aware of their public accountability.

On the occasion, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Chhabiraj Pant urged those involved in the road expansion to prioritize the roads from Maitighar Mandal to Tinkune and Lainchaur to Budhanilakanth.

Similarly, Finance Secretary Shant Raj Subedi expressed commitment that the road expansion would not see budget shortage at all. RSS
