Probe committee starts investigation over Chapakot incident

Syangja, Nov. 30: The Judicial Probe Committee formed by the government to investigate the Chapakot incident has started investigation from Saturday.

Two persons Krishna Bhattarai, 25, and Surya Ale, 18, were shot dead in a clash between the locals and the police while the villagers were demonstrating at the Police Post by demanding whether Maya BK, 35, committed suicide or she was murdered in Chapakot in the southeast belt of Syangja district on October 29.

The government formed a five-member probe committee coordinated by former justice of Appellate Court, Krishna Prasad Basyal. The committee has reached the VDC and have started investigation since Saturday, said Chief District Officer, Krishna Bahadur Raut.

Joint-Attorney General, Kiran Paudel, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Shyam Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, Harihar Paudel, and Section Officer at the Office of the Attorney General, Padma Prasad Acharya are other members of the committee.

Meanwhile, kin of BK said though the government had announced to provide one million rupees to the victims’ family immediately after the incident, they have not yet got it. RSS
