Police raid houses of six CPN-Maoist leaders

Golbazaar (Siraha), Nov. 14: Police here carried out raids at the houses of six CPN-Maoist leaders and cadres last night.

A special team deployed from the District Police Office, Siraha carried out the raid at the house of Ram Narayan Singh, the party’s district secretary at Lalpur-d, Dipesh Lama, the party’s district joint in-charge at Jamadaha-9, Sambhu Saha, the party’s leader at Lalpur-4 and Rajesh Ram, a journalist considered close to the CPN-Maoist at Lahan-8.

Police said the raid was carried out to arrest the leaders and confiscate Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at their houses if any.  But the police could not find any of these leaders or any explosives at their houses in course of the raid, it is learnt.

“People in plainclothes who identified themselves as police barged in our house in the night and started searching the nooks and corners of the house. Angered by not finding any prohibited materials, they also took away some books and a motorcycle with them,” said Pārbati Chaudhary, wife of journalist Ram.

CPN-Maoist’s Lahan Town In-charge, Bijaya Gupta, accused the security personnel who conducted the raid at journalist Ram’s house, of taking a motorcycle [Sa 3 Pa 5555], a laptop, a golden necklace and some books.

Gupta denounced the raid carried out by the administration in an inhuman manner. He alleged the security forces of naked suppression of his party leaders and cadres although his party was boycotting the Constituent Assembly election in a peaceful manner.

More CPN-Maoist cadres quit party

Fourteen cadres of the CPN-Maoist, including a State Committee Member, here have announced their dissociation from the party in the last two days, expressing their disenchantment to the party’s policy.

They announced their resignation from the party’s membership through a press release. They have stated that they were giving up their party membership because the party was adopting violent means to achieve its political objectives.

Among the 14 CPN-Maoist cadres who have quit the party is Tulasi Prasad Limbu (Akash), the CPN-Maoist State Committee Member. RSS
