Kathmandu, Oct. 2: Nepal Karante Federation has felicitated Karante players and coaches, who won all gold medals in the South Asian Karante Championship held in Bhutan’s capital, Thimpu, on September 28-29.
Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC), Yubaraj Lama, honoured 31 persons including male and female players and coaches amid a felicitation programme organized by the Federation at NSC office in Tripureswor on Wednesday.
Noting that Nepali Karante players have carved a new history by winning all 23 gold medals in the Championship, he further said the Council would provide each player with Rs 5,000 as Dashain expenses.
He also said that a proposal will be put forth to a meeting of the Counci of Ministers for due recognition and felicitation to players.
General-Secretary of the Federation, Daba Gurung, said that the Nepali Karante has been like a ‘power house’ amoing South Asian countries and expressed the hope that Nepal would make another history in the Asian Karante Championship to take place in Korea next year. Four South Asian countries including Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Bhutan had participated in the event. RSS
