Detainee Adhikari released

Chitwan, Sept. 30: The District Police Office, Chitwan, has released Ram Prasad Adhikari who was held in connection with an investigation on the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari from Phujel of Gorkha district.

Ram Prasad Adhikari was released on Monday after the Office of the District Attorney, Chitwan, directed it to release him on a condition of presence when called, citing the lack of proof that he was involved in the murder, said Sanjay Bahadur Raut, Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Chitwan.

The DPO Chitwan had presented Ram Prasad before the Office of the District Attorney after carrying out the investigation for 25 days.

The Police, after the investigation, had demanded the imprisonment from six months to three years to Ram Prasad Adhikari, one of the accused in murder and the life imprisonment including the confiscation of property to 10 others involved in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari.

Although a complaint (FIR) was lodged against 11 persons at the DPO Chitwan in accusation of the murder, only Ram Prasad was arrested by the police. He was held from Kathmandu on September 6. The police have said they were searching for 10 others involved in the murder.

One of those the FIR was lodged against and is absconding is the namesake of Ram Prasad Adhikari but from Gorkha district while others are Chhabi Lal Poudel, Meghanath Poudel, Bishnu Tiwari, Subhadra Adhikari, Sita Adhikari, Kali Prasad Adhikari, Him Lal Adhikari and Bhimsen Poudel of Gorkha and Parushram Poudel aka Ajib from Chitwan.

Krishna Prasad Adhikari was killed at Ratnanagar of Chitwan on June 6 in 2004 during the armed revolution launched by then CPN-Maoist. RSS
