Japanese Ambassador makes farewell call on finance minister

Kathmandu, Sept. 30: Finance Minister Shanker Prasad Koirala has urged the Japan Government to increase its support in energy and infrastructure development sectors in Nepal.

Minister Koirala made such statement with Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Kunio Takahashi when the latter reached the Ministry of Finance to make a farewell call on Monday.

During the meeting, Minister Koirala said that Japanese support for the construction of Kathmandu-Hetauda Tunnel Highway was expected.

Koirala also said that the Kathmandu-Bhaktapur road section and BP Highway constructed with the Japanese assistance would play crucial role in the country’s economic development.

On the occasion, Minister Koirala said that the government was working for prompt financial and economic management as per the suggestions of the donors.

Likewise, the Finance Minister expressed gratitude for the Japanese assistance given for capacity promotion of radar at Tribhuvan International Airport, Tanahun Hydropower and Melamchi Drinking Water Project.

During the meeting, Ambassador Takahashi urged for the government’s intervention to complete the development programmes in time.

Ambassador Takahashi further said that Japanese investors were ready to invest in Nepal’s hydropower if an investment-friendly environment was created. RSS
