‘Govt for holding local bodies’ election through due procedure’

ktm, May 24: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development Prakashman Singh has said that the government was planning to prakash man singhold the local bodies’ election as per the process and procedures of the local bodies election.

Addressing a greeting exchange programme organized on the occasion of Republic Day at Jorpati in the capital today, Singh said the government was holding the local bodies’ election by amending the Local Self Governance Act.

Deputy Prime Minister said, “Council of Ministers has been preparing to submit the Local Self Governance Act-2055 at the Legislature-Parliament for the amendment and is for ensuring respectable representation of women in the local bodies.”

Singh stressed on the need of having unity among the political parties to conduct the elections immediately.

On the occasion, Singh also claimed that declaration of 72 new municipalities was an achievement of the government and informed that government was planning to declare more municipalities in Kathmandu Valley within one and half months.
