1.05 million people visit Central Zoo last year

Lalitpur, Dec. 13: As many as 1.05 million people visited the Central Zoo at Jawlakhel in Lalitpur district last year.The zoo made income of Rs. 76.519 million from entry fee during the perio.

Programme manager Sarita Gyawali said that the zoo itself has taken initiatives for the managerial improvement as the zoo has been the first choice of the tourists entering in the Kathmandu valley.

The zoo has spent Rs. 73.595 million for office management, taking care of animals and improvement of cage and sheds, said accountant Suk Bahadur Gurung.

The highest amount of the income has been spent in cage improvement. Animal curator, Ganesh Koirala, said that the zoo administration has been carrying out infrastructure development for providing more facilities to visitors and for expanding wildlife conservation education.

The government in 2052 BS has given ownership of the zoo to the National Nature Conservation Trust for 30 years. RSS
