Rs. 60 million compensation amount provided to poultry farmers

Bhaktapur, Nov. 8: The government has started to provide compensation amount of the chickens and poultry feed destroyed after declaring bird flu emergency zone to the poultry farmers in Bhaktapur district.

According to Chief of the District Livestock Office, Khagendra Raj Bhatta, a total of Rs.60 million compensation was provided to the poultry farmers.

The government allocated Rs. 132.9 million for distributing compensation and as many as 360 farmers in the district have got compensation so far, it is learnt.

The government provided the compensation amount to the farmers as per the existing price.

Rs. 130 was provided to each broiler chicken, Rs. 250 to parent chicken, Rs. 50 to chicks, Rs. 3 per egg, Rs. 10 to per kg of poultry feed and Rs. 100 to per kg of meat was provided to the farmers.

There is a rule that hatchery owners should submit registration certificate, evidence of bringing parent chicken from foreign country, evidence of payment of tax and owner of poultry farm should submit certificate of farm registration and certificate of payment of tax to get the compensation amount.
