Kathmandu, Nov. 7: CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung has called on the government to postpone the Second Constituent Assembly (CA) election until consensus is forged to that end.

Joining a tea reception organised by the party’s town committee, Kirtipur on the occasion of New Year of Nepal Sambat 1134 here today, leader Gurung argued that the election to be held only after consensus would give solution to the problems in the country.

“The CA election said to be for managing the conflict would rather fuel it if it is conducted by keeping the main component (CPN-Maoist) of the people’s war aside and I want to urge other parties to be serious towards possible consequences on time,” he said.

Democratic countries should not use armies for the election, he claimed, adding that the 2056 BS election was held without the mobilisation of armies although the country was passing through the conflict at that time.

He further claimed that this election was going to be held as per the foreign instructions and without making corrections of past mistakes it would not give the nation a new constitution.

At the programme organised here from where UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is contending for the second CA election, leader Gurung accused that the UCPN (M) was not a supporter of federalism with identity. RSS
