UCPN (Maoist) to make election manifesto public on Saturday

Kathmandu, Oct. 18: The Unified CPN (Maoist) is all set to make the party’s election manifesto public amidst a function on Saturday.

According to Spokesperson of the UCPN (Maoist), Agni Prasad Sapkota, the UCPN (Maoist) would make the election manifesto public organizing a function at 9:00 am at the National Academy.

The UCPN (Maoist) has decided to forward the directly elected presidential system as a form of governance while federal system with ethnic identity that ensure the rights of all community people in the election manifesto that has been named ‘commitment letter’.

Similarly, the party is learnt to have forwarded the concept of 14 states as decided by the State Restructuring Committee of the first Constituent Assembly (CA) or the 10 states as per the consensus forged among the political parties in the past. The UCPN (Maoist) is to include proportional, inclusive, and participatory democracy.

Likewise, the UCPN (Maoist) is reported to determine five-year, ten-year, twenty-year and forty-year strategic plan for the national development categorizing them in  short-term, mid-term and long-term economic policy, said Spokesperson Sapkota.

The UCPN (Maoist) advocates for progressive nationalism as defined and passed by the UCPN (Maoist)’s Seventh General Convention held in Hetauda. It has described the foreign policy on the basis of equality between its southern and northern neighbours— India and China.

The election commitment letter was prepared by a Manifesto Drafting Committee of the UCPN (Maoist) that is coordinated by former Prime Minister and senior leader, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai. RSS
