Voters Education programme in villages after Dashain

Chitwan, Oct. 17: Voters education programme will be in place in villages immediately after the celebrations of Bada Dashain festival.

The Election Commission, Chitwan is all set to depute volunteers for voters’ education and election education activists to villages from the third week of October. The school teachers and social mobilizers of Village Development Committees were already imparted training for voters’ education programme.

Under the campaign, some 141 volunteers and 63 teachers will be deputed in Chitwan, said District Returning Officer Hari Dhakal.

They will distribute leaflet and pamphlets reaching out doorsteps of voters and make them know how to cast vote.

To monitor the works carried out by volunteers, Principal of the school – where polling centre is based – and ward secretary of VDC and municipality will be deputed, Dhakal informed.

The election environment will be further enabled immediately after the voters’ education programme in place, said political party leaders contesting the election.

There are 273,740 voters in two municipalities and 36 VDCs of Chitwan district. Similarly, Chitwan has five election constituencies, 141 polling booths and 378 polling centres. RSS
