Kathmandu, Oct. 8: As many as 176 leaders of different political parties have withdrawn their candidacies for the first-past-the-post election of the Constituent Assembly scheduled for November 19, said the Election Commission.
The EC had given a day today for the leaders if they wanted to withdraw their candidacies.
EC Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai said among the total candidacies withdrawn, eastern region has 30, central region 80, western region 20, Midwestern 30 and far-western 16.
A total of 6,343 had filed candidacies in the respective district election offices for the FPTP election.
Now, the EC would publish the final FPTP candidate list on Wednesday. RSS
