FEW COMPLAINTS AGAINST FPTP CANDIDATES

Kathmandu, Oct. 6: The Election Commission (EC) has received few complaints against the nomination of candidates contending in the upcoming Constituent Assembly election from 240 constituencies across the country under the first-past-the post (FPTP) system.

Registration of the complaints lodged against the FPTP election candidates across the country completed on Saturday, according to EC Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai.

As many as 6,352 candidates have filed nominations for the November 19 election from 240 constituencies. Of them, 1,000 are independent, one is third gender, 591 are women and 5,671 are men, the EC said.

The printing of ballot papers for the Proportional Representation system has already begun which is expected to complete within the next 15 days.

Around 15 million ballot papers will be printed.  Final name list of candidates would be published on Monday.

Printing of ballot papers for the FPTP would begun once the candidates are given the election symbol, it is learnt.

The EC said that it would immediately respond if any cases of violation of election code of conducts are reported.  RSS
