Four killed; dozen injured in bus accident

Manthali, Oct. 5: At least four passengers were killed and a dozen others injured when a Sanghutar-bound bus (Na 2 Kha 7783) veered off the road and fell 150 metres from the road. The bus had come from Ramechhap district headquarters Manthali.

Some 60 passengers sustained injuries in the accident occurred at Aaitabare ridge in Babiyakharka of Ramechhap VDC.

The incident site is around 10 kilometres away from the headquarters Manthali,. The bus was reportedly carrying passengers from Kathmandu bound home for Dashain celebrations.

Among the deceased identified so far are Goma Bhandari, 19, of Gothgaun VDC-1 of Ramechhap district and Anusha BK of Kuntabeshi of Okhaldhunga district while rest two are yet to be identified, according to the District Police Office, Ramechhap.

Bhandari and BK died while undergoing treatment at the Ramechhap Community Hospital.

‘The bus rolled back after it was started. I was on the roof and managed to jump down. The bus fell down from the ridge. I was unconscious’, said Sushil BK, who was injured in the incident.

The accident is said to have taken place due to slippery road caused by dot rains this time. Details of the incident are yet to be collected, said the police. RSS
