Kathmandu, Oct. 4: Altogether 6,352 candidates have filed their nominations under the first-past-the-post election system of Constituent Assembly (CA) election 2013 in 240 electoral constituencies across the country.
Of them, 1,000 are independent, one from third gender, 591 women and 5,761 men, according to Election Commission (EC)’s Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rana.
Among the 3,946 candidates in the previous CA election, 368 were women and 3,578 men.
Candidates from political parties and independent candidates on Thursday had registered their nominations in all electoral constituencies for first-past-the-post election system.
The EC is collecting the information as to which political parties had registered their nominations from which constituencies, said Rai.
It may be noted that UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have fielded candidates from all constituencies while small and Madhes-based parties had presented their candidates in limited constituencies.
Election symbol will be provided to candidates within October 10, according to the Commission. RSS
