Nepalgunj, Nov. 19: Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala has said that the Constituent Assembly to be formed after the election would guarantee the rights of the Nepalis, establish lasting peace in the country and make the economy the main priority.

Koirala, who is also the candidate in the Constituent Assembly election from Banke Constituency No. 3, said this while talking briefly to the media persons on the premises of the District Forest Office polling centre at Nepalgunj this morning. The NC president cast his ballot at 7:15 a.m.

He also urged one and all to join hands in writing a new constitution for the country. “This election has not been organised in a jest; it has been held with the objective of making Nepal prosperous through the use of their democratic rights. Therefore, I request all to use their voting rights confidently,” he said.

The Nepali Congress president stressed that the political parties should now reach consensus, if not, nobody would be able to withstand the wrath of the people. He said it did not matter who wins in the election but democracy should not lose.

Koirala said his party would not compromise on the democracy, press freedom, human rights and the freedom of expression under any circumstances.

There are 75 polling stations including four temporary ones in this constituency with 49,288 voters. RSS
