Eye patients increasing over years

Nepalgunj, Nov. 12: A large number of people in Mid-Western Development Region have been found suffering from eye diseases in comparison to other development regions.

According to Bheri Zonal Hospital, Nepalgunj, at least o.57 per cent of total population are still suffering from ophthalmic diseases in Bheri Zone.

Kaushal Kumar Barma, Manager at Fattebal Eye Hospital said the district having eye patients below 0.2 per cent of total population could only be declared blindness free zone.

Though over 120,000 people are receiving eye treatment annually from the Hospital, number of ophthalmic patients witnesses rise in the region.

It may be noted that patients from different districts in Mid-Western and Far-Western Development Regions and even from across the border approach the hospital for eye treatment.

The hospital has been launching eye camps to provide free of cost eye treatment to the needy people, Manager Barma added.

Meanwhile, the hospital has constructed a- two-storied OPD building on the premises of the hospital to reach out treatment services to the people in a further convenient manner, said Ratan Tandan, Chairman of the Netra Jyoti Sangh, Banke. RSS
