Army and Armed Police in field for election security

Chitwan, Oct. 20: The Nepal Army and Armed Police Force have made their presence in security sensitive areas of Chitwan in view of November 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

The Nepal Army has been mobilized for the outer security during election while the Armed Police is deployed for the internal and voters’ security.

The Army has started providing security in all five election constituencies and sensitive areas of Chitwan.  The special security arrangement has come to effect in Chitwan from today as per the government’s plan to mobilize Army and Armed Police for election security a month earlier of election date, said the District Administration Office, Chitwan.

The Nepal Army is given the responsibility of external security of polling centres in Hattibang, Lothar, Meghauli and Ayodhyapuri area of Madi, it is learnt. A Company comprising 70 NA personnel will be deputed for the security of an election constituency, said the NA sources.

Likewise, the NA has deployed its force to provide security in Nepal Telecom, District Prison and Bharatpur Airport considering security sensitivity in view of election, said the local administration office sources. RSS
