Cattle worth Rs 35 million transacted

Jumla, Oct. 18: Jumla district alone saw the transaction of cattle worth around Rs 3.5 million during Dashain festival this year.

Every year lambs and mountain goats had been imported from Tibet for the purpose of meat consumption. But this time almost all cattle were brought from Jumla, Bajura, Mugu and Kalikot for sale.

It is learnt that some 9,592 lambs from nine VDCs of Jumla and 681 from other districts were brought to district headquarters.

The transaction of lambs and goats, each sold at Rs 10,000 on average, was totaled to be Rs 35 million, said acting Chief of District Livestock Office, Jumla, Dhanjeet Budha.

The sale of goat ranges the price from Rs 2,000 to Rs 19,000, said the Office. RSS
