Govt. committed to hold free and fair election: Chairman Regmi

Kathmandu, Oct. 30: Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, has said that the government is committed to hold the election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) in a free and fearless environment.

Chairman Regmi expressed this commitment during a meeting with Eva Joly, chief of the Election Observation ‘Mission’ of the European Union (EU) and member of the European Parliament at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, this afternoon.

Stating that action would be taken against those foiling election and carrying out activities against the existing law, Chairman Regmi said that the government is involved in the mission to hold the CA election, Spokesperson at the Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Mahendra Bahadur Thapa, quoted Chairman Regmi as saying.

On the occasion, they discussed on various issues of mutual interests and welfare as well as relations between Nepal and EU, added Thapa.

Joly familiarized Chairman Regmi that observers of the Mission deployed in different places of the country have informed her that the CA election is going to be held in a free and fearless environment, he said.

A total of 100 observers are going to be deployed from EU for the election. RSS
