Damak, Jan. 12: A dozen community schools in Jhapa district are to face merger due to lack of students.
At a time when the government has made public a policy of running classes in English medium at all the community schools, more than a dozen community schools are faced with student crunch.
Due to this, most of the schools are on the verge of closure.
The schools are facing student shortage despite adequate physical infrastructure, teachers and classes being run in English medium.
The District Education Office (DEO), Jhapa, had two years ago brought a concept of merging a school having the least number of students with another one, but has not yet carried out any works to this regard.
Under-Secretary at the DEO, Uddhav Bista, said that students of those schools, failing to have at least 100 students in the upcoming academic session, would be transferred to the nearby schools. RSS
