No alternative to wait SC’s verdict-leaders

Kathmandu, Jan. 10: CPN-UML Secretary Yubaraj Gyawali said there is no option but to adhere to the SC’s decision on the issue who to call the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA)

At a face-to-face programme organized by Reporters Club in the capital on Friday, he stressed the need to create environment for the first CA meeting to take place soon.

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat opined that there is no alternative to wait for the SC’s verdict on who to summon the first meeting.

He further said it is wise to wait for the apex court’s decision since the dispute on who to call the first meeting has reached to the purview of SC.

He further said the dispute to this effect has emerged due to constitutional provision howver the general practice is to summon the CA meeting by President in the capacity of Head of the State.

The government will be formed after consulting with political parties to join the government, said leader Mahat.

UCPN (Maoist) Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota also underlined the need to call the CA meeting at the earliest possible.

He also said that the NC and UML, who have garnered majority of people’s votes, should form the government together without any delay. RSS
