
Kathmandu, Dec. 24: Eighteen political parties including the UCPN (Maoist) have decided to join the new Constituent Assembly (CA) election, concluding that the agreement reached in the tri-party meeting this morning was positive.
A meeting of 18 political parties held at the UCPN (M) central office Parisdanda today agreed to go to the CA citing that the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) became ready to address their demands.
Talking to media persons following the meeting, UCPN(M) spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said they decided to be part of the new CA after the Congress and UML agreed to address the demands.
A meeting of three parties this morning reached to a preliminary agreement on the matters of forming a high-level commission to probe the alleged rigging in the November 19 CA election, giving continuity to the High Level Political Committee, constituting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, gearing up for the general election with promulgation of a new constitution and bringing the forces out of the CA in the constitution making process.
The 18 political parties met immediately after the three-party meeting.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Sadbhawna Party leader Sanjay Gupta said the alliance has taken the three-party meeting’s agreement positive and welcomed it. Earlier, the 18 parties including the UCPN (M) were of the view that they would not submit the name list of Proportional Representation ( PR) candidates until their demands were addressed. RSS
