Kathmandu, Dec. 12: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has expressed grave concern over the delay in maintenance of the Thankot-Naubise road section and the road expansion drive in Kathmandu valley.

Inviting all the concerned government officials at the CIAA Thursday to discuss the slow progress in Thankot-Naubise road section maintenance and road widening campaign in the Kathmandu valley, the anti-corruption body sought commitments from the authorities concerned for completing the road within a fixed timetable.

During the meeting held in the presence of Chief Commissioner Lokmansingh Karki and commissioners, the Nepal Telecom Officials pledged to plant the underground wire within 15 days in Lainchaur-Lazimpat-Budhanilkantha stretch while the officials of the Nepal Electricity Authority also committed to complete their task within two months, CIAA spokesperson Shreedhar Sapkota said.

Likewise, the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited has been directed to complete its task within 45 days and the Kathmandu Town Development Authority is expected to provide compensation to the house owners whose houses were damaged during the road widening time within six weeks.

Sapkota said, “Officials of the concerned offices have expressed commitment to complete the maintenance of Thankot-Naubise road section by mid-April 2014.”

The CIAA would continuously monitor whether or not the commitments of the officials were met during the timetable and have been warned of action if they failed to meet the deadline, Sapkota said. RSS
