Neplese culture expo in China

 Kathmandu, Oct 28: The Nepalese students studying in the popular Sun Yat-sen University located in the Guangzhou city of China exhibited the culture, custom and food of Nepal on October26,  2014.

Students studying in the Undergraduate and the Post-graduate level in the Medical School showed their active participation in the International Cultural Weekend where students from India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Arab countries had also showed their unique culture and food. The culture show was held from 1 pm till 6 pm local time in the soccer field of the Medical School of Sun Yat-Sen University.

 The Nepalese stall was the most alluring one with the colourful posters and arts depicting Gautam Buddha, Sagarmatha (Mt Everest), Pashupatinath, Nepalese dress, popular festivals, the living goddess Kumari, Pokhara, Chitawan, Lumbini, etc attracting most visitors.

Students had also showcased the Nepalese weapon Khukuri, eye window or the Aankhijhyal, the thanka painting, the replica of the Swayambhunath and other Nepali souvenirs and icons. Some Nepalese students were dressed in the typical national dress and also performed Nepali cultural dance in the popular folk songs.

The Nepalese food stall had varieties of popular Nepalese cuisine like Bara, Samosa, Momo, Pakoda,etc. The International students and the Chinese students were in big numbers trying the Nepalese food and watching the cultural show.

Mrs. Amrita Thapa, president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association China was also attended the programme and encouraged the Nepalese students participating in the culture expo. The NRNA China had provided an assistance of 2000 RMB to the Nepalese students for preparation of the cultural expo, NRNA NCC China Spokesperson Dr. Sagar Neupane said. RSS
