
Kathmandu, April 6: An agreement has been reached to form a task force of the three major parties to work towards forging a consensus on the Bills relating to Truth and Reconciliation and on Enforced Disappearances to be presented before the parliament soon.
The task force shall have two representatives each from the Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist), as per the agreement reached during a discussion held between Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and senior leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) party on the same at the Prime Minister’s residence Baluwatar earlier today.
The task force will work to ensure that the bill is tabled in the parliament along with a political consensus, according to NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel, who took part in the deliberations.
An agreement was also reached to finalize the names of the party representatives in the task force soon and table the bill as per the earlier schedule.
The task force has been formed in wake of the dissatisfaction expressed by the UCPN (Maoist) towards the drafting committee formed by the government to present a draft of the bill before the Legislature-Parliament. RSS
