Kanchanpur, March 2: A man who was arrested by the police today on theft charge said he has been involved in this ‘profession’ since the past three and half decades and it is not his intention but compulsion.

Karan Bohara, 55, of Patal of Deulikot-5, Bajhang was caught with copper utensils, four pressure cookers, an axe, a sickle and a soap case he stole from different rural parts of the district. He said he has no relatives and took up this ‘profession’ when he was just 20. He claimed it was his compulsion to steal people’s goods to eke out his living as he has no alternative means of income.

According to the Area Police Office Jhalari, Bohara was arrested last year also along with stolen goods and was released after completing jail sentence. When asked why he continues to steal people’s property despite facing legal punishment, Bohara tried to justify that he has no relatives and it is very difficult for him to quit this business as he is accustomed to this for long.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested Manish Thagunna, Binod Thagunna, Shambhu Dhami and Narendra Bohara on the charge of their involvement in stealing four electric motors worth over Rs. 100,000 and have been sent to detention, Sub Inspector Rajendra Nath said. RSS
