President asks CA to start process to form govt thru majority basis

Ram-Baran-YadavKathmandu, 3 Feb – Preisdfent Dr Ram Baran Yadav today asked the Constituent Assembly which also functions as the Legislature-Parliament to begin the process for forming a majority government.

In a message to the Constituent Assembly today, Head of the State Yadav asked the Assembly to start the process for the formation of a majority government as per the Article 38 (2) of the Interim Constitution of Nepal, 2007, the Office of the President stated today.

The President, on January 26, called on the political parties represented in the Legislature-Parliament to select by February 2 a Prime Minister and constitute a Council of Ministers under that person’s chairpersonship on the basis of political consensus as per the Article 38 (1) of the Interim Constitution.

President Yadav has called on the parties to begin the process for formation of a majority government after the timeline he gave for formation of a consensus government terminated Sunday.
