CIAA initiates probe into Mahottari non-existent schools

CIAABardibas, 3 Feb – The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has started second round of investigation into the scandal related to operation of non-existent schools in Mahottari district.

A team from the CIAA started interrogating people associated with 82 schools in the district linked with different types of alleged irregularities including financial.

According to the District Administration Office, Mahottari, the CIAA team is grilling the principals, chairpersons of management committees, officials and other bodies concerned of respective schools.

A five-member team led by CIAA Investigation Office Tirtharaj KC arrived here and started investigation into the scandal on Sunday.  Necessary action will be initiated once the investigation is complete, said Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Thapaliya.

The CIAA moved to the district for a probe into alleged irregularities in the education sector, following repeated public complaint about this.  In an initial phase of investigation carried out around a month ago, the CIAA put 82 schools which are allegedly operating in papers in a suspended list.
