Panchthar, Feb. 1: The District Education Office, Panchtar, has declared 115 schools in the district as zone of peace (ZOP).

The schools were declared the zone of peace reasoning that the political activities in the schools badly hampered children’s education. The ZOP was therefore announced to discourage politics in schools and enhance quality education.

The stakeholders here took positively the initiative taken by District Education Officer, Gyan Mani Nepal. The stakeholders said the banda and strike brought disenchantment in the teaching profession.

The teachers were also shirking in the name of rights. But with this initiative, the schools would see improvements, they argued. The schools were announced the ZOP amidst a programme where the representatives of the schools, management committees, guardian associations, children’s clubs and political representatives had participated.

They mad commitment to enhance quality in education for the secured future of the children. Some of the schools announced ZOP were from 13 VDCs including Nangin Lungrupa, Ranitar, Pouwasatapi, Siwa, Lumphabung, Labamidanda, Hangum, Angna, Mauwa and Rabi.
