Kathmandu, Jan. 11: Senior leader of the CPN (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that promulgating the new constitution within a year was a challenging job.

At a programme here today, the former Prime Minister said that delay in selection of lawmakers under the proportional representation electoral system and disputes on summoning the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) have wasted the time.

The UML leader said, “There will also surface disputes on new President’s election, government formation and power sharing. So, constitution will be drafted in time only if such issues were resolved amicably.”

Stating that Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) has the major responsibility to shoulder, leader Nepal said UCPN (Maoist), Madhes-based parties and others political forces should be taken into confidence while moving ahead.

“Months should not be wasted in the name of bringing all parties together. Timeline should be fixed for this. Time is being wasted in the name of consensus,” leader Nepal said.

Likewise, leader Nepal said that peaceful environment and political stability was needed in the country for country’s sound economic status. RSS
