electrySiraha, Jan. 11 – The power leakage in Siraha district including two municipality and 106 VDCs is found to be around 33 per cent. As a result, the country is loosing hundreds of thousand every month in revenue generation.

The Nepal Electricity Authority, Lahan centre supplies power to 74 VDCs and Lahan municipality while the Siraha centre covers 32 VDCs and Siraha municipality. And both the centres record power leakage as high as 33 per cent.

The power leakage is more in some distant VDCs in the south and is continues abated despite our efforts to check it through regular monitoring, says Chief of the NEA Lahan centre Amod Kumar Yadav.

A similar monitoring carried out on Thursday had found and seized 27 units of electric motor linked to unrecorded power in Bhagwanpur, Sothiyain, Laharniya, Sarachanchiya VDCs.

Apart from seizing such electronic devices, the NEA here has also been imposing a fine of Rs. 4,500 to the individuals found indulging in power leakage, according to Yadav. RSS
