Bangladeshi VOIP racketeer nabbed

Kathmandu, Jan. 3: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested a Bangladeshi national for his alleged involvement in illegal operation of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP).

The CIB team on Thursday night nabbed Bangladeshi national Tabarakul Islam for his involvement in the call bypass racket that he was operating on a rented house owned by Indira Joshi in Kathmandu Metropolis-3, Losal Janamarga.

Police also seized various gadgets and SIM cards of telecom service providers used in the call bypass.

In a press statement released by the Bureau today, altogether 109 including 88 Nepali and 21 foreign nationals have been so far arrested on the charge of call bypass and sent to the concerned office for action.

Of the total foreigners, 18 are Bangladeshi nationals.

Cases have been filed against the VOIP racketeers demanding a penalty of around Rs 11.29 billion till date. RSS
