Solu corridor to be built in five years

 Solukhumbu, Jan. 3:  The Solu Corridor Transmission Line is to be built in the next five years.

It is now certain after the Ministry of Energy permitted for the transmission line, said Executive Director of the Excel Clean Solu Hydropower Company Ashish Garjale.

The 132 kV double circuit transmission line is to be built with Exim Bank soft loan. The project would cost Rs. 2.4 billion.

It will cross 22 VDCs from Mirchaiya of Siraha to reach Tingla VDC of Solu through Okhaldhunga district.

The total length of the line will be 88.4 km and will have 352 mw flow capacity and is expected to solve much of the power crisis in eastern region, say promoters.

Two of the six Super Six projects are being constructed in Solukhola of Solukhumbu. The construction will start this FY and will be completed in FY 2075-76 BS.

Feasibility study and EIA have been completed.  Nepal Electricity Department Senior Divisional Engineer Gokarnaraj Panta said preliminary environmental assessment report has been approved.

The project would benefit hydro power projects of Siraha, Udayapur, Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu. RSS
