Snowfall affects life in Jumla and Darchula

Jumla, Dec. 31: Normal life of mountainous districts including Jumla has been hit hard due to snowfall since this morning. No signs of snowfall were seen until Monday afternoon but it has been snowing since 6:00 am today, it is learnt.

The temperature of the district in the morning was minus 8 degrees Celsius due to heavy snowfall, according to Metrological Field Office, Jumla.

The snowfall has caused inconvenience to people in their daily activities. However, farmers would be benefited from it, said the District Agriculture Development Office.

The snow has accumulated to around one foot thick and the snowfall has been taking place continuously.  Similarly, heavy snowfall along with rainfall has been taking place in Darchula district from Monday night. Normal life in the district has been hit hard due to cold following the snowfall.

Heavy snowfall has taken place in Ghusa, Rapla, Byas, Sunsera and Sipti, among other VDCs. It is the second time that the district witnessed snowfall this winter. RSS
