Nepal lose to Pakistan in U-19 Asia Cup Cricket

Kathmandu, Dec. 28: Nepal lost to Pakistan in the first match played under the U-19 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Saturday.

Nepal was handed a defeat by Pakistan by a huge run margin of 132 in the match held at ICC Global Cricket Ground Academy in UAE.

The Pakistani team that chose to bat first after winning the toss had posed a mammoth run target of 312 runs to Nepal. Pakistan scored the runs at the loss of six wickets.

Chasing the target, Nepal made a total of merely 179 runs playing all 50 limited overs at the loss of seven wickets.

Pakistani batsman duo, Sami Aslam and Hassan Raja, contributed 108 and 100 runs to the victory of their team.

Nepali batsman Amit Shrestha totaled 60 runs while Sunil Dhamala made 39 followed by Arif Sef (25), Bibhas Thapa (22) and Bhuwan Karki (19).

In the tournament, Nepali team vice-captain Ram Naresh Giri and bowler Lali Singh Bhandari took two wickets each while Yagyaman Kumal sent one to pavilion.

In the earlier match too, Nepal lost to Pakistan by eight wickets. With this defeat, Nepal is under pressure to edge Indian team to enter the semi-final.
