Mt. Everest expedition for child welfare

Kathmandu, Dec. 28: A team led by Kame Magar is to climb Mt. Everest in March 2014 for the welfare of the children kept at the Solu Child Welfare Orphanage.

Magar is the Chairman of the orphanage providing shelter to 18 children, who have been orphaned due to various reasons.

Speaking at a programme organized by the orphanage today, team leader Magar said, “The expedition to Mt. Everest is to be undertaken to provide assistance for the welfare of the children. I appeal to all people and organizations concerned to extend support to the expedition.”

Speaking at the programme, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Ram Kumar Shrestha, said the Ministry was committed to provide necessary support for the expedition.

NC Central Committee member and newly elected Constituent Assembly (CA) member, Bal Bahadur KC, urged the bodies concerned to waive royalty for the expedition and assured to provide his personal support of Rs. 100,100 to the team.

Similarly, senior journalist Purushottam Dahal said there is a need of liberal spirit for the social services and declared a support of Rs. 2,000 monthly during his life.

Coordinator of the Campaign, Devendra Sharma, said the team would also go on trekking in Dolakha, Ramechhap, Solukhumbu, Kavrepalanchowk districts. RSS
