SAARC media training begins

Kathmandu, Dec. 27: SAARC media internship programme aimed at honing skills of journalists and government information officers from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries began at Godawari, Lalitpur from Friday.

During the training, experiences about SAARC media exercises, situation and polices would also be shared. A total of 19 journalists and information officers from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Maldives are taking part in the four-day training.

Inaugurating the training, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications and SAARC Information Center standing committee chair Sushil Kumar Ojha expressed his hope that training would be a support in studying about social, economical, cultural and sports sectors in the SAARC and collecting information accordingly.

Director General of Department of Information and SAARC Information Center Director Laxmi Bilash Koirala said the center is playing an effective role in making people well informed about the SARRC activities.

Training coordinator and former President of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Suresh Acharya shed light on the objectives of training. RSS
