NHRC edict on effective investigation

Lalitpur, Dec. 27: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has drawn the attention of the government and all the bodies concerned to make the ongoing investigation process on the murder case related to Krishna Prasad Adhikari and being conducted by Nepal Police more effective.

Adhikari from Phujel of Gorakha district was murdered in Chitwan during the conflict period.

Although the investigation into this case was expedited, a complaint has been lodged at the Commission that the investigation process carried out by the District Police Office, Chitwan was not effective of late, NHRC Officiating Secretary Ved Prasad Bhattarai stated in a press release today.

While drawing the attention of the government and the Nepal Police Headquarters to expand the scope of the investigation, Officiating Secretary Bhattarai has urged all the sides concerned to make the investigation process further effective.

He stated that the Commission was observing the case closely and it was preparing to immediately send a team led by a human rights protection officer from the centre to Chitwan for further monitoring in this connection. RSS
