Top leaders likely to strike a deal today

Kathmandu, Dec. 24: The top leaders of major three political parties who have expedited the talks and discussions to end the fresh political uncertainties developed in the post-elections period are likely to forge consensus today.

Leaders said that the consensus was forged at a meting held at Peace Fund Secretariat in Babarmahal this morning. A meeting of the High-Level Political Committee scheduled for this afternoon would give a final touch and agreement among the top leaders of three major political parties is expected today itself.

Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel said that there are chances to request the Election Commission (EC) to extend the date to submit the names of the lawmakers under the proportional electoral system as there were some problems to prepare the lists of the lawmakers due to leaders’ focus on talks and dialogues.

The deadline given by the Election Commission (EC) to submit the names of the lawmakers under the proportional electoral system is ending tomorrow.

During the recent meetings, the leaders are holding talks on formation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, High-Level Political Committee and ways to bring the dissenting parties on board the constituent assembly, among others, it is learnt.

Likewise, the leaders are discussing to form a committee to probe the fraud in the recently held CA polls as claimed by the UCPN (Maoist).Top leaders of the major political parties present at the meeting. RSS
