NC, CPN (UML) agree to submit names of PR electoral system

Kathmandu, Dec. 22: The leaders of the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) have agreed to submit the names of their parties’ lawmakers under the proportional representation (PR) electoral system to the Election Commission (EC) within the given deadline of December 25.

During a meeting held at the residence of NC President, Sushil Koirala, this morning, the top leaders of the two major parties made such agreement.

The leaders of the parties also agreed to give a full-shape to the Constituent Assembly (CA) as early as possible by convincing all the dissenting parties to join the CA.

Talking to media persons after the meeting, NC Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel said they agreed to submit the names of the lawmakers under the PR within the deadline and give full-shape to the CA.

However, the leaders hold no discussion regarding the power sharing and alliance for the new government.

Similarly, CPN (UML) Vice-Chairperson Bidhya Devi Bhandari said that the UCPN (Maoist) would also submit the names of lawmakers under the PR within the deadline.

During the meeting, the leaders of the both parties have agreed to move ahead on the basis of the three-point agreement signed by them recently.

Present in the meeting were President Koirala, Vice-President Poudel, General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula of the NC and Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, Vice Chairperson Bhandari and leaders KP Sharma Oli and Raghuji Panta of the CPN (UML).

Meanwhile, a meeting between the CPN (UML) and the UCPN (Maoist) leaders is underway regarding the current political scenario at the Babarmahal-based Peace Secretariat Fund. RSS
