Kathmandu, Dec. 21: Unified CPN (Maoist) leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that no compromise could be made regarding identity-based federalism.

Addressing a gathering organized here on Saturday by the Jyapu Mahaguthi, he made it clear that his party has raised the issue of identity-based federalism to empower people with rights. The UCPN (Maoist) is in favour of giving equal rights to all, he added.

CPN-UML vice-chairperson Bamdev Gautam said that it would not be scientific to give right to a particular ethnic group since they are going to adopt federal system to bring decentralized state mechanism to the domain of general public.

He stressed that Nepal should go for federal system considering her geo-political situation.

Nepali Congress leader Narahari Acharya underlined the need to forge consensus on the agenda of federalism before actually going into drafting a new constitution since the big parties in the previous CA are also in strength in the new CA.

CPN (Maoist) secretary Dev Gurung claimed that the second election to Constituent Assembly (CA) would not do any good to the country and people.

Chairperson of Jyapu Mahaguthi Kathmandu Committee Ram Bahadur Dangol informed that the fair organized by the Mahaguthi would conclude on Sunday. RSS
