Khalanga (Baitedi), Dec. 21: The German International Cooperation Agency, GiZ involved in supporting a road construction work in the district since the past four years has withdrawn leaving the road construction work incomplete.

Of the 31.7 kilometer section of the Dehimandou to Giregada of the Dasarasth Chand Highway, the GiZ returned after completing only 28 kilometers of the road.

The project phased out after the road construction agreement came to an end, said GiZ programme coordinator Samjhana Shahi.

However, it is learnt that the international agency decided to pull out after people living below the road raised an issue over the risk they could face in the construction of the road above their homes.

The dispute is already over and despite requests to continue the work, GiZ has left, leaving the locals disappointed, said local resident Ramesh Bhandari.

The GiZ has invested around 4.3 million rupees in road, school, drinking water and agriculture projects in the south of the district. RSS
